Engagements: Karissa & Mitch

I met Karissa at a concert. That sounds like an excellent and trendy way to meet someone, doesn't it? However, the concert that Karissa and I met was actually the grade 8 band concert that both of our older sisters were playing in. We bonded over our shared "little sister" role, while listening to the melodious sounds of the grade 8 band...

... and now, we are both grown up. What a privilege it has been to grow up with this woman of character. Karissa and Mitch, I believe that there are wonderful things in store for you, and I am blessed to be your friend. Congratulations on your engagement and I am so excited for the next chapter.

For this shoot, we drove to Cultus Lake, EARLY in the morning. The weather was predicted to be a total downpour, but on this occasion our west coast weather held off just long enough for us to enjoy a quiet morning at the lake. Like all early morning adventures, we began with a good coffee.

Engagements: Danika & Jon

I am a big fan of these two. I have known Jon since he came came home with my younger brother when they were both in grade 3. I felt a sense of duty in my big-sister role, preparing them snacks and making sure they stayed out of trouble. Time has passed, but their friendship has remained. I was overjoyed when Jon and Danika asked me to take pictures at their wedding this summer.

Lighthouse Park has been a special place in Jon and Danika's relationship. It is the location of numerous dates, and also the location where Jon asked Danika to marry him. It was a perfect spot for their engagement photos. Jon and Danika are adventurous, and kind. Their shoot involved bush-wacking, rock-climbing, and a lot of laughing. I have no doubt that there will be incredible adventures ahead for these two.

Thanks for a fun shoot J&D!

Weddings: Andrew & Jessica

A weekend away to the Island and a couple in love...

I am forever a fan of the beautiful Pacific North West, and delight in any chance to explore it further. When Jessica and Andrew chatted with me about their Parksville wedding, I knew right away that it was something I wanted to be part of.

There is something calming about the ocean and the rocky shoreline. It draws me right in. There is something grounding about the forests that grow so close to the water. There is even something tranquil in the classic 'gray' of a BC day. I love these things. Andrew and Jessica emulate these same qualities. These two emanate something that is calm and thoughtful - so much like the coast they inhabit.

This winter wedding was brought together by love and family. We loved being part of this day. Congratulations on your new marriage, Andrew and Jessica, and thank you for giving us such an excellent reason to visit Vancouver Island.
